Marinara Sauce

Marinara Sauce

 Cook Time: 20-30 minutes
 Servings: 8 servings


Ingredients:


  • 2 T Olive Oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
  • 1 T dried basil leaves
  • 2 tsp dried leaf oregano
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried leaf thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Grated parmesan cheese for garnish


Directions:


Place oil in a large, heavy sauce pan with onion and garlic over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until tender. Add remaining ingredients.

Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf before serving.

Serve over freshly cooked pasta and garnish with additional parmesan cheese.
